With 8 domestic and international patents (two pending), Hydrokinetics was invented in 1994 and is currently in its 12th generation. The process utilizes pressurized variable fluid vibrations to break the bond of material from the pipe wall.
A section of the fouled line is first isolated. A high-pressure hydraulic hose is then attached to one end where a technician, via the Hydrokinetic control console, will induce a sonic pulse into the water stream. This pulse travels through the stream, the fouling material and the pipe itself, all of which resonate at different frequencies due to their respective compositions. This variation in frequencies breaks the adhesive bond between the pipe and the foulant, which can then be safely expelled from the pipe into a containment basin at the opposite end of the pipe, away from the technician.

Hydrokinetics uses no harmful chemicals—just water. Because the pressurized stream, which can be adjusted based on your unique application specs, is completely contained within the pipe, there’s no risk of injury.
What’s more, there’s no risk of damage to operational equipment. The sonic vibration only takes a few milliseconds to complete, and the tube or pipe being cleared is exposed to the sonic wave for only a fraction of the process time. The maximum frequency is 11,250 vibrations per minute—far below the number of cycles per second needed to cause metal fatigue even in soft metals such as copper-nickel alloys or copper.
