Cleaning a process surge (pyrolysis gas) tank is a challenge in terms of safety, cost and regulatory compliance. Aware of the risks, this facility contracted Hydrokinetics to handle removing and processing the sludge and cleaning the tank.
Using a camera-enabled robotic wash system, we were able to see the contents of the tank and motivate the sludge to the suction point. With the help of an injected polymer, the sludge was successfully removed and processed into three distinct streams. Our state-of-the-art vapor-recovery system controlled all gas emissions, including benzene and sour gas, maintaining EPA compliance.
The projected was completed on time and within budget with zero incidents or violations.
